KSS has partnered with Aqana to integrate their DACS® anaerobic technology with our industry leading MBR and RO filtration systems for the sustainable treatment of a variety of industrial wastewater streams, especially within food, beverage, chemicals, and life science markets. The cutting-edge DACS® technology involves wastewater passing downward through a moving bed bioreactor (MBBR) comprised of specific high surface area plastic biofilm carriers filled with anaerobic biomass, converting organic matter directly into biogas (methane and carbon dioxide). The biogas travels up through the reactor, providing gentle mixing and distribution of the biomass carriers throughout the reactor bed for optimal mass transfer. The anaerobic biomass is retained in the system by the biofilm sheltering carriers with no impact on influent flow velocity. The application of carriers therefore allows for a simpler system design while enabling a high level of robustness to flow and load variations. The result is an efficient method that does not depend on the conventional and more complicated granulation of biomass, to treat wastewater and capture its constituents as a valuable resource and green energy.
